Yoruba actress and producer, Funke Akindele, has broken her silence on why she has not been entertaining interviews and reacting to issues pertaining to her career of late, saying that it was a deliberate decision and her management made to stay out of media glare for the time being.
Funke, who is largely known as Jenifa endeared herself to many home video viewers with her popular movie, Jenifa, which opened a new chapter in her life and earned her mouth-watering endorsements.
In a brief chat with HITZONTV recently, Funke said “I am working on new projects now and I don’t want to be in the media for the wrong reasons or for the fun of it. When I am done with the projects, I will talk about them and probably hold a press conference to clear the air on some issues,”she said.

Funke Akindele worked in television before switching to cinema, becoming known for her starring role in the family-oriented Nigerian television show I Need to Know. Jenifa is a 2008 Nigerian Yoruba comedy-drama film starring Funke Akindele. The film received 4 nominations at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2008. Funke Akindele, the main protagonist of the film, won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in Leading Role for her role as Jenifa.
