President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria has been honoured by a group of legend actors and actresses in the nation’s movie industry, Nollywood, with a ‘Grand Patriot of the Legends’ award.
Receiving the award in a meeting with the legends in Abuja on Tuesday, President Jonathan described the actors and actresses in the nation’s movie industry as the greatest ambassadors of the country. “They have consistently brought glory to Nigeria,” he said.
The group that calls itself the Legends of Nollywood was led by Mr Paul Obazele.
President Jonathan told the legends that although football had brought glory to Nigeria, the country’s performance in football had not been as consistent as that of Nollywood.
He pledged to remain committed to supporting the Nollywood actors to ensure that they made more impact.
