Students To Resume Next Week As ASUU Leaders Hold Secret Meeting in Kano

Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities met at the Bayero University in Kano yesterday, according to reports.
The meeting was said to have been intended to review the position of the various university chapters of the Union concerning postponement or continuation of the industrial action, after an earlier scheduled meeting had to be called as a mark of respect for the deceased former president of the union, Prof Festus Iyayi, who lost his life in an accident on his way to Kano for the meeting.
Journalists were not invited to the meeting which held at an undisclosed venue.
Despite contacted members of the union declining comments, the presence of top members of the union was evident at the campus as their cars were spotted at the premises.
If members agreed on ending the strike as sources have indicated would happen before the National Executive Council, NEC meeting which didn’t hold, students may return to school next week.
